Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant (+675) is a past MVP winner and is currently second in scoring at 29.5 points per game. But how much will his numbers be curtailing going forward with three-time NBA scoring champion James Harden also among Brooklyn's starting five?
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has played himself into contention at odds of +550. He's fourth in scoring (29.3), and 11th in rebounds (10.7) for the surprising Sixers.

The player to watch here appears to be Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic. He's eighth in scoring (27.2), fourth in assists (8.6), and sixth in rebounds (11.5). Jokic recently became the first center since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975 to drop 50 points and dish 10 assists in a game. Jokic has recorded a double-double in every game this season and posted five triple-doubles.
Ball Answering Bell
Billed by many to be the best player available in the 2020 NBA Draft class, LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets is certainly proving to be the most NBA-ready player among this season's rookies.
He leads all first-year players in assists (6.0) and steals (1.4). Ball is also second in points (13.6) and rebounds (5.8).

The only other rookie to lead in more than one category is James Wiseman of the Golden State Warriors. He's out front in rebounds (6.1) and blocked shots (1.3).
Getting Defensive
Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert has won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in two of the past three seasons and he's making a strong case to make it three out of four. Gobert is currently third in the NBA in rebounds (13.4) and fourth in blocked shots (2.7).
This is an award dominated by big men. The Lakers' Anthony Davis is being given strong NBA player prop odds to earn this honor for the first time, but his totals don't seem to make him a legitimate contender. He doesn't rate among the top five in the NBA in any key defensive category.

Someone who's played himself in DPOY reckoning is Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner. He's out front in the NBA with 3.7 blocks, nearly a full block per game more than any other player.
