Baltimore Ravens season so far
Baltimore had a slow start to their year in 2024, as they fell to defeats in both their opening games. An opening day clash against the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs saw them lose 20-27, before a close 26-23 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders, but they were able to bounce back and in week three they picked up a huge win over the Dallas Cowboys.
That kickstarted a fantastic five-game winning run and in week 4 they dominated the Buffalo Bills to win 35-10, before a week five overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals in a hugely entertaining game. Next up was a 30-23 home win against the Washington Commanders, before a 41-31 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. That run was snapped by the Cleveland Browns in a surprising result in week 8.
The Ravens bounced back with a dominant 41-10 win over Denver Broncos before another win over the Bengals followed in another razor-close game. Since then however, they have lost two of their last three games with defeats to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles sandwiching a win over the Los Angeles Chargers before a bye week last time out to allow them to rest and recharge ahead of this clash.
New York Giants season so far
New York didn’t have the best of starts at all, falling to a one-sided defeat against the Minnesota Vikings in week 1 – and that set the tone for how the season would go.
Week 2 wasn’t much better for them against the Washington Commanders as they suffered yet another defeat, losing 21-18 despite having the lead at half-time. In week 3 they claimed their first win against the Browns, before the team fell back into bad habits and were beaten by the Cowboys.
They snapped out of it in week 5 with a fine performance and a solid 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks, but since then things have just gone pear-shaped for the Giants.
New York managed to score just ten points in their next two games combined as they fell to 17-7 and 28-3 defeats to the Cincinnati Bengals and Eagles respectively, before a trip to Pittsburgh saw them well beaten also.
They made it close against the Commanders next. Still, they ultimately fell to a 27-22 defeat, before travelling to Germany for an international clash against the Carolina Panthers which went to overtime before the team fell to a 20-17 defeat again.
A bye followed that game to give the team a chance to recharge, but they returned to action in week 12 and were thrashed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-7 before two more defeats to the Cowboys and New Orleans Saints have left Brian Daboll fighting for his job as head coach. They come into this game on an eight-game losing streak.
NFL Picks: New York Giants +15 @ -110
The Ravens haven't won a game by more than seven points in the last four weeks and have won by 16 points or more only twice this season. Adding to that, the Giants have only lost by 16 or more on three occasions this season means this spread is just far too big for Baltimore.
Sometimes the game you don't play is the best game you have, and that may be the case for Baltimore here as they come off a bye - with many expecting them to come back flying against a struggling team. But the numbers don't support it and the value is there to take New York to cover the spread and keep the result somewhat respectable.

NFL Picks: Under 43.5 total match points @ -110
The Ravens are in the middle of a fight just to reach the postseason which means they can't afford to be looking at blowout wins, and should instead focus on their defending.
Baltimore will get back to scoring points this week after struggling in recent weeks, but this is also a chance for them to keep things tight going the other way and show that they are capable of turning in a top defensive performance heading towards the post-season.
With the focus likely to be on getting far enough ahead to then stop New York scoring freely, the Under makes the most sense at this point of the season and the value is there to make it worthwhile.
