On the verge of establishing a franchise record, for the best single month winning percentage in their 39-year team history, Toronto looks to remain on their red-hot roll. The Blue Jays can earn a .814 August winning percentage if they push their record to 22-5 this month with a win over Cleveland here. Toronto is 74-56 overall and they lead the New York Yankees by 1.5 games in the AL East Division playoff race. The Jays recent 8-1 record has been amazing as Toronto's best batting order in baseball has annihilated their opponents by an 84-26 margin that is good for a 9.3 - 3.2 average per contest.
Take away the 7-13 record they posted coming out of the MLB All- Star break and there’s no telling where Cleveland would be at this point. The Indians have turned it around some as they are 14-7 since August 8 and the Tribe have won five straight contests by a combined 38-14 count. The way both teams are swinging their bats - the pitchers had better be ready for this contest. Price has been rock solid posting a 1.98 ERA in his first five starts for the Blue Jays. Salazar had allowed just three runs over three starts prior to getting knocked around in a short 4.2 inning outing during the Indians 6-2 loss to the Yankees in his last start. Anyone betting against the Blue Jays at this point, especially with their newly minted ace on the bump, is playing with fire.
