EPL Top Goalscorers Watch Week 19
Mohamed Salah’s Odds Slashed
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah can seemingly do nothing wrong on the pitch at the minute and he found himself on the score sheet again last weekend when his team rolled Bournemouth over by four goals to nil.
Salah’s goal was his 14th in the Premier League so far and his 21st in all competitions. Bovada priced Salah at +400 to be the league’s top scorer before last weekend’s games, now the same online betting company prices Salah at a much shorter +275.
If you are planning on betting Salah will win the Golden Boot this season, I personally would wait to see how Week 19’s fixtures alter the odds. Salah and his Liverpool team mates travel to Arsenal who have been exceptional on home soil and who are likely to make life difficult for Salah and Co.
Arsenal have won eight and lost one of their nine home games this campaign. They have scored 22 goals and conceded seven during this time. This fixture traditionally has seen lots of goals, but The Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger is likely to mark Salah out of the game, making the +500 on Salah scoring first and the +130 on him scoring at any time needing some caution before taking advantage of.
Look to Bet on Man City’s Stars
Manchester city look unstoppable. Sixteen wins in a row have resulted in City topping the table by a clear 11 points. Amazingly, City have scored 56 goals in 18 games, which is 15 more than any other team in the Premier League.
City host Bournemouth this weekend and it could turn into a bloodbath. Bournemouth are infamous for leaking plenty of goals and I cannot see how they will cope with the attacking threat that City possess.
Sergio Aguero is currently on 10 league goals for the season and should improve his tally once the weekend’s fixtures are complete. The diminutive Argentinian was +600 to be top scorer a couple of weeks ago and has since shortened to +500, which still makes him the third favourite behind Harry Kane and the aforementioned Salah.
Aguero is +250 to score first against Bournemouth and -222 to find the back of the net before the referee calls time on the game. These are similar odds for Gabriel Jesus (+260 and -222) and Raheem Sterling (+350 and -133) who have eight and 11 league goals respectively; I wouldn’t deter anyone from betting on any one of this talented trio.
Can Alvaro Morata Find His Scoring Boots?
Chelsea’s Spanish star Alvaro Morata has gone off the boil after a blistering start to his career in London. Morata banged in six goals in his first six Premier League games, however, he recent form has seen him only score three more goals in his last 10 appearances.
Morata seems like a player who drifts in and out of form. After his six goals in six games, Morata went six games in all competitions without scoring, then hit two in two games, before not scoring for another three games. Morata last scored in a 3-1 win over Newcastle three games ago; if history repeats itself Morata should score against Everton this weekend.
During Week 17, Morata was +1000 to be the Golden Boot winner, now he has drifted to +1600. While I do not think he will win the Golden Boot, and by some margin, I do like the look of +300 on him scoring first against Everton and -105 on him to put the ball in the Everton goal before the 90-minutes are up.
