EPL Top Goalscorers Watch Week 20
Harry Kane is Back at the Top of the Golden Boot Race
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane hit a hat trick in the Week 19 game against Burnley to take his total to 15 for the season, which ties him at the top of the Golden Boot race with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
This has resulted in Kane’s odds of finishing as the top goal scorer in the Premier League slashed to +110 and it would take a brave bettor to bet against the England captain.
Kane and his Spurs teammates host Southampton on Week 20 and Kane is a hot favorite to score yet another goal. Back Kane at +225 to score first in the game against the Saints and -150 on his scoring during the 90 minutes.
Southampton have conceded 25 goals in 19 games so far, which is not too bad, but with Kane in hot form, they should concede a few more goals by the time the weekend’s festivities are over.
Alvaro Morata to Score on His Return?
Alvaro Morata was suspended for Chelsea’s last game thanks to accumulating five yellow cards for the season. Morata was booked for over-celebrating his late winning goal in the 2-1 win over Bournemouth.
Morata should return to the starting line-up for the home clash against Brighton & Hove Albion and this spells bad news for Brighton’s defence. Morata has nine goals to his name this season and looks odds on to reach double figures in the Boxing Day clash.
Bovada have Morata at +250 to score first and -150 to score at anytime. It may be worth backing the latter just in case Antonio Conte keeps Morata on the bench and introduces him later as an impact substitute.
Mohamed Salah Streak to Continue
Nobody expected Mohamed Salah to lead the race for the Golden Boot, but that is exactly what has happened. Salah already has 15 league goals and both should and could score again on December 26 when his Liverpool side host struggling Swansea City.
Swansea look like a team that has resigned itself to relegation from the Premier League and while they are not leaking goals at an alarming rate, I can see them being on the end of a trouncing from Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Salah looks good value to open the scoring with Bovada pricing this at +275 but I’ll be opting for him to score at anytime at -160 thanks to the fact his pace will frighten the tiring Swansea defense late on in this encounter.
Sergio Aguero Puts Himself in The Shop Window
Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is a club legend yet seems like he could be surplus to requirements at the league leaders. Manager Pep Guardiola has hinted that Aguero could be set to leave the club and he may do so as early as the January transfer window.
Aguero bagged a brace in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Week 19 to take his tally to 12 for the season. This latest game sees Man City head to a Newcastle United team that look devoid of confidence and who have shipped 29 goals in 19 games this season.
Whether or not Aguero starts the game remains to be seen so it may be best to avoid the +250 on him scoring first. Instead, look to back Aguero to score before the final whistle at odds of -175 with Bovada.
