Jaron Ennis v Eimantas Stanionis odds

  • Jaron Ennis - (-600)
  • Eimantas Stanionis - (+450)

Reigning IBF champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis comes into this fight with a professional record of 33-0 (1 no contest), including 29 knockout wins and arguably in the best shape of his career.

His first shot at a world title came against Chris Van Heerden back in December 2020 but it ended in an anti-climax when an accidental clash of heads in the first round led to a cut on Van Heerden and the fight was ruled a no contest.

Since then though Ennis has been unstoppable. He returned with a fantastic three-fight run with quick knockout wins - defeating Sergey Lipinets in the sixth-round before a first-round stoppage of Thomas Dulorme and a second-round stoppage of Custio Clayton to earn a shot at the interim IBF title.

There he took on Karen Chukhadzhian and earned a unanimous decision win to claim the belt, and he hasn't looked back since. His first defense of that belt saw a 10th round knockout of Romain Villa, before he was installed as the undisputed champion. He then fought David Avanesyan and put a beating on his opponent that saw him retire on his stall after the fifth-round. His last outing was a rematch against Chukhadzian, where he once again came out on top by unanimous decision.

You can bet on Ennis to remain undefeated at a best price of -600, meaning you would need to bet $600 to earn a $100 profit, showing you how highly favored he is by the bookmakers.

Standing opposite him on Saturday night will be the reigning WBA champion Stanionis, who comes into this fight with a professional record of 15-0 (1 no contest) including nine knockout victories.

The 30-year-old Lithuanian is a technical boxer with great cardio and toughness and after a unanimous decision win over Thomas Dulorme, he came up against Luis Collazo in a tough encounter. After three back-and-forth rounds an accidental clash of heads led to a cut on Collazo and the fight was stopped and ruled a no contest.

But his performance was good enough to earn him a shot at the WBA welterweight title against Radzhab Butaev, and he earned a split decision win to claim the first title of his professional career. His first defense came in his last outing against Gabriel Maestre, where he earned a unanimous decision win.

You can bet on Stanionis to remain undefeated and become the unified champion at a best price of +450, meaning you will earn $450 for every $100 you earn should he be named victorious after the fight.

Jaron Ennis v Eimantas Stanionis Preview

This is a fight that is right at the top of the welterweight division in world boxing, and it will be interesting to see how people view the division when all is said and done.

Since Terrence Crawford was stripped of his belt and moved away from the division, 147-pounds has been looking for someone to step up and take the role as the face of the division. 'Boots' has tried, but while he has talked a good game his performances haven't lived up to the hype.

Ennis is a powerful puncher with great footwork and good technical skills, but since stepping up his level of competition his boxing IQ has been shown up as lacking.

His finishing power is always there and always a problem, while his conditioning has never been in question. A fast start and proving he is the better athlete is the best way for him to dominate this fight, and it could leave him with a chance to get the finish in the latter rounds.

As for Stanionis, he knows he isn't quite as technical or athletic as his opponent and that means he will need to make this dirty and rough. The Lithuanian will be clinching, leaning on his opponent and looking to drag this into the late rounds without taking much damage so he has a better chance.

He has power too, although not really one-shot power, and Boots will have to be wary of that. If they just stand and trade however, Ennis has the advantage as the better out-and-out boxer.

Boxing Picks: Ennis to be unified champ @ -110

Despite having 29 knockouts in 33 wins in his career, Ennis winning by knockout seems unlikely in this fight.

Stanionis is a warrior and is smart enough not to get caught in big exchanges, and Ennis has never had 'shut the lights off' kind of power. The most logical bet here is that Ennis just outclasses him over 12 rounds and claims a win on the scorecards, and at -110 the value for that is excellent.
