Broncos vs Chiefs: Week Two NFL Action Opens at Arrowhead
Defense carries the Mile High Crew in Week One
Kickers and the defensive units were busy during the Broncos 19-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens during NFL Week One action in Denver on Sunday. Both offenses posted goose eggs as six field goals and two touchdowns via interception returns accounted for all of the scoring in this contest. QB Peyton Manning looked sluggish (old) as he was 24-40 passing for 175 yards and one INT. Following a streak of at least one touchdown in 51 straight games, Manning has tossed zero TD passed in three of his last five regular season games. While we’re not ready to write off Manning just yet, the wear and tear of 18 seasons in the NFL is starting to show. That said, Manning is still one of the smartest QB's in the NFL.
Kansas City Chiefs post a big Week One road win over Houston in Texas
Opening an NFL season on the road is never an enviable task but Kansas City made the most of their chances and the Chiefs hung on for a 27-20 win over the Houston Texans. The Chiefs opened a 27-9 halftime lead thanks largely to a solid performance by QB Alex Smith who was 15-20 for 193 yards and three touchdowns through the first two quarters. Rising star, TE Travis Kelce, posted 106 receiving yards and two TD while RB Jamaal Charles added 113 totals yards and one score. Kansas City has now gone 20 games without a wide receiver catching a TD pass - a streak that dates back to Week 14 of the 2013 NFL season. The Denver D, both run and pass, will be a stiff test for the Chiefs tonight.
Broncos vs Chiefs Game Day Call: Denver has won six straight and the Broncos are 12-4 in this series dating back to the 2007 NFL season. Though it’s only been one week, the Broncos offense looks decided different without TE Julius Thomas and WR Wes Welker in the fold. The Chiefs on the other hand are getting better on offense thanks to the acquisition of WR Jeremy Maclin and the emergence of Kelce. Expecting a close contest here, we turn to an apparent gift on the Bovada NFL betting board tonight. Back the Bronco’s with a 1000 unit wager on alternate spread price posted at Bovada.
