Los Angeles vs Washington: Dodgers Kershaw Faces Nationals Fister

All-World LHP Clayton Kershaw (16-3 ERA 1.73) looks to become the Majors first 17-game winner and get the Dodgers back on a winning track tonight. Kershaw has won his last four starts over Washington and, in two games last season and one this year, the Krushinator has given up just two runs over 22.2 innings pitched versus the Nationals. Including their 6-4 loss last night, Los Angeles (77-61) has dropped three of their last four games and their NL West lead is down to just two games now.

Though they have stumbled some, with a 3-4 record on their current nine game road trip, Washington (78-58) still owns a comfortable seven game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. The Nats now have their sights set on the #1 seed in the NL playoffs - they currently lead the Dodgers by two games in that tight race. Rock solid until recently, RHP Doug Fister (12-5 ERA 2.55) closed August by allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 17 hits over 11.2 innings in loses to the Giants and Phillies.
