Minnesota vs Miami: NFL Week 16 South Beach Showdown
Dolphins playoffs hopes are now a pipe dream
Though mathematically still alive, Miami's playoff chances are slim and none as the Dolphins need to win out and hope the five teams above them all implode. Miami is on a 2-4 run and have dropped two straight, versus Baltimore and New England, by a combined 69-26 margin. QB Ryan Tannehill has been sacked 38 times this season and the Dolphins have average 14 points per game in their last three matches. It'll be tough for the Phins to get up off the mat after last weeks pummeling by the Patriots.
Vikings are still battling despite being eliminated from the postseason
Following a 2-5 start to their season, and without suspended star RB Adrian Peterson, Minnesota could have folded their tent and tossed in the towel. That hasn't been the case though as the Vikings are on a 4-3 run and they almost beat Detroit and Green Bay in two of the losses. Minnesota has covered the spread in seven of eight games and four straight. QB Teddy Bridgewater has made decent strides in his rookie campaign and two wins to close out the season would give the Vikings a level 8-8 record.
Miami vs Minnesota Prediction: There's not very much history between these teams as they have only played eleven times dating back to 1972. Miami won the last meeting 14-10 in Minnesota on September 19, 2010. We don't expect a blowout by either side in South Beach today. As such, we'll take the points offered at the Sportbook.ag wagering website and set sail with 500 unit bet on the Vikings. Those willing to gamble may want to bet that the deflated Dolphins lose straight up here.
