MotoGP 2020 Odds: Marquez A Dominant Champion
- Spain’s Marc Marquez has won six of the past seven MotoGP world championships but he’s not the betting favorite to capture the 2020 title
- Italy’s Andrea Dovizioso, last season’s runner-up, is the -1000 chalk
- Marquez is the second betting choice at odds of -600
Marc Marquez is the man in MotoGP racing. In fact, he’s been the man for quite some time, with six world titles in the past seven years. And he’s coming off the best season of his career, a record-setting campaign. But the early money in the MotoGP 2020 odds isn’t backing him as the favorite to win the title.
Italian Andrea Dovizioso, last season’s runner-up, is the surprise -10000 chalk in the opening MotoGP winner odds 2020. Marquez is listed with a betting line of -600. Dovizioso has finished in second place in each of the past three seasons.
The only rider to beat Marquez to a world title since the 2013 season won’t be a factor in the betting odds MotoGP 2020. Spain’s Jorge Lorenzo, who won the third world title of his career in 2015, announced his retirement from racing at the end of the 2019 season.

The Marc Of Excellence
Just when you think he can’t become any more dominant, Marquez goes out and does exactly that. His 2019 season began slowly as he recovered from off-season shoulder surgery but it didn’t take Marquez long to put the hammer down.
Other than a crash at the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas that led to his retirement from the race, the Spaniard finished no worse than second in his other 18 starts. That included a dozen victories. At one point, Marquez won five consecutive races.
He broke the MotoGP single-season records for points (420) and podium finishes. It’ll be difficult to overlook him in the MotoGP winner odds 2020.
No. 2 Must Try Harder
Andrea Dovizioso is growing accustomed to looking at the back of Marquez’s No. 93 Honda. The 2019 season marked the third year in succession that the Italian finished second in the MotoGP world championship standings behind the Spanish legend.
Dovizioso won just two races last season. He recorded nine podium appearances. But he also was the victim of three retirements.
The Ducati rider was winless over the last eight races of 2019, finishing better than third only once.
He’ll need to step up his game to run with Marquez and be considered a legitimate contender in the MotoGP 2020 odds.
Potential Value Bets
Spaniard Maverick Vinales won a pair of races on his Yamaha and finished third in the overall MotoGP World Championship standings. Spain’s Alex Rins also won twice racing for Suzuki. Italy’s Danilo Petrucci won his country’s home race aboard his Ducati.
A curious rookie to watch in the 2020 MotoGP odds will be Alex Marquez. Marc’s younger sibling is replacing the retiring Lorenzo as his brother’s teammate on the Repsol Honda Team. Alex is the reigning Moto2 World champion. He also won a Moto3 world title.
