NBA Wednesday Night Hardwood: Portland Trailblazers Vs. Utah Jazz
Utah’s defense is Legitimate
The Utah Jazz may not be scoreboard darling - averaging 94.3 points per game – but they are outscoring their opponents by a margin of over 14 points and have held opponents to 76 points or less in their two victories this season. The Jazz had the most efficient defense after the trade deadline season and it has carried over so far into the 2016 season. Even in their lone loss of the season, the Jazz only yielded 92 points.
Portland may not be a one-man show this season
As the offseason decimated the Trailblazers starting five, it seemed as though the Blazers should have to rely so heavily on Damian Lillard this season, they would quickly fall from their divisional championship last year to one of the worst teams in the West this season. So far Lillard has not been the only scoring force the Blazers have had in the early parts of the season. After posting 37 points on opening night, C.J. McCollum has consistently provided the Blazers the secondary scorer they direly need to compete in the deep West. It may be early, but McCollum has at least 15 points in all four games this season after averaging only 6.3 last season.
Portland Trailblazers vs. Utah Jazz
The Trailblazers can expect Damian Lillard to score against the Jazz – his career average against them is 22.3 – but can they expect anyone else to contribute enough against. With the Jazz playing at home they gain the edge. The line of -6 for the Jazz is solid bet, but taking an under on 191 line at -110 is the best call of the night.
