NBA Wednesday Night on The Hardwood: Dallas Mavericks Vs. Boston Celtics
No Longer a Feast Against the East
Over the past few seasons or so, the teams from the West Conference have played exceptionally well against their Eastern Conference counterparts, but the tides are shifting this season. As of the end of the weekend Eastern Conference teams had a winning record against the west. The Celtics have been helping this cause. They have a 2-1 mark against the west, including dominating victories over the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder.
No “Quitzki” for Dirk Nowitzki
After 16 season it seemed time for Dirk Nowitzki to slow down and hand the reigns of the franchise over to a younger teammate, but so far Dirk is not showing the effects of Father Time. Averaging 18.1 points per game, 7 rebounds and shooting over 50% from the field, Dirk is leading the Mavericks well in the early goings of the season. Dirk and the Mavs may still have 71 games left to play, but they have a better record than five of last year’s Western Conference playoff teams so far.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Dirk Nowitzki
Over the place five seasons, the Mavericks have had little time difficult dispatching the Boston Celtics, going 9-1 over that stretch. The Celtics have had some down years over that period, including finishing below .500 twice and only one game over another time. That being said these Celtics look much better than those previous teams. The Celtics are in a great position – due a stock of great young players and a couple of veteran role players picked off during the offseason. Boston is favoured by -5 on most lines, but the Mavericks should keep this close
