NBA Wednesday Night on The Hardwood: Denver Nuggets Vs. Chicago Bulls
New Coach Same Problem
The Bulls hired a new coach in the offseason to help them elevate their offensive game yet the early results are not looking too great so far. The Bulls rank 19th in offensive points per game and still primarily winning through their defensive abilities - which ranks 9th in points allowed per game. The Bulls big problem likely has something to do with Derek Rose. The former MVP has been able to actually play in all but two games this season, but he is struggling to find his shot – shooting 35% from the field and 23% from beyond the arch. Rose needs to focus on being a playmaker more so than ever and let his shot naturally return to him. Once he gets it back the Bulls can make a charge at an above average offense.
The Mile High City’s Miles Below Average
To put it simple the Nuggets are a bad team this season. They rank in the bottom third in the league in pretty much every offensive and defensive categories this season. Every game they have won so far this season has been against a team currently sporting a losing record. The Nuggets were not expected to be a very competitive team this season, but they were 6-5 only seven game – before subsequently losing those seven games.
Denver Nuggets vs. Chicago Bulls
The Bulls may not be quite as good as their 10-5 records indicates as they a point differentiate of right around zero – meaning they score as many points as they allow. What the Bulls have done well is beat some of the league’s top teams, including the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night. The line is set at -10.5 for the Bulls, a fairly hefty line considering the Bulls have only won two of their ten games by more than 6 points. The over/under is at 198, but the Nuggets have failed to score over 81 points in their last three games, and have only broken the century mark twice during their seven game losing streak. Picking the under is the better call tonight.
