Betting on the NFL is a massive industry in the USA. Sundays in America are booked solid for football viewing and that's enticed betting houses that cater to this market to become very creative in their offerings on the league.
The prop wager was born with the NFL in mind. Today, bettors can choose from a veritable endless supply of NFL player props. Quarterbacks are broken down by passing yardage, touchdown passes, and interceptions in the NFL player prop odds. There are also NFL player prop picks relating to rushing yardage and TDs and receiving yardage and TDs.
Player (Team) | Over | Under | |
---|---|---|---|
Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) | -115 | 5000.5 Yards | -115 |
You name the NFL star and it's a virtual certainty that there will be prop wagers available on their performance.
Patrick Mahomes Passing Yardage
In 2018, his first season as an NFL starter, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards. He's been on pace to exceed that barrier in each of the past two seasons. Last year, he didn't get there because head coach Andy Reid sat Mahomes out of a meaningless final regular-season game. In 2018, injury cost him two games and most of a third and his shot at passing for 5,000 yards.

This season, the total set on Mahomes passing yards is 5000.5 yards. The betting line is -115 whether the over or under is the wager played in the NFL player prop Vegas odds. Two factors should put him over that number. Firstly, the extra game that is extending the NFL season another week will boost his chances. As well, with just one playoff bye up for grabs, it's unlikely that there will be meaningless games for playoff contenders entering the last week of the regular season.
Derrick Henry Rushing Yardage
Tennessee Titans running back Henry has led the NFL in rushing each of the past two seasons. Last season, he flirted with Eric Dickerson's NFL single-season record of 2,105 yards. Henry finished with 2,020 yards, the fifth-best season in league history.

2.) Derrick Henry AFTER contact - 2,758
3.) Dalvin Cook - 2,692 pic.twitter.com/qJ8gQXMrR5
The Titans figure to hand Henry the rock and follow him wherever he carries them. His rushing total for 2021 is set at a pedestrian 1,575.5 yards, with -115 odds for either play. The over-on Henry rushing yardage may be the safest play in NFL betting this season.
Jared Goff Interceptions
With the Los Angeles Rams, QB Jared Goff was surrounded by some of the most talented receivers in the NFL. In Detroit with his new club the Lions, he is not so blessed.
I understand being unsure of a new QB in town. I really hope Jared Goff can silence his critics. We'll find out. My QB pic.twitter.com/KfPUS3jNdV

It's going to be a long season for the Lions. Goff isn't the most accurate passer. He's been picked off 29 times over the past two seasons.
Tom Brady Touchdown Passes
It's never advisable to doubt Brady, as he proved again last year when he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title. That being said, the over on Brady TD pass totals is not a wise play in 2021 NFL player prop odds.

Brady's TD pass total is set at 37. He's gone over that number once in the past five years and twice over the past 13 seasons. On top of that, he's 44 years old.
