NFL Week Seven Picks
Great Pick
Game New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts
Pick: Colts -4.5
The last time the Colts played the Saints, the Saints absolutely dismantled an Andrew Luck/Pneyton Manning-less Colts squad. The 62-7 beating – one of the largest margins of victory in NFL history – should fuel a Colts team to get some revenge. The Colts – at only 3-3 this season – have the talent to be one of the best teams in the AFC and things should start clicking this weekend at home against the New Orleans Saints.
Good Pick
Baltimore Ravens vs. Arizona Cardinals
Pick: Baltimore +9
The Cardinals are the better team in this matchup, but a Ravens team at 1-4 hasn’t lost by more than 6 points this season, and that includes games against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. The Ravens are not a good pick to win, but Joe Flacco and the Ravens’ offense can keep the game within the 9 point range.
Game to Avoid
Cleveland Browns vs. St. Louis Rams
St. Louis -4.5
The Rams have been a fringe of the playoffs kind of team the last few years and once again they fall into that group in 2015. The issue for the Rams has been winning games against mediocre opponents. The Browns are once again slated right next to the definition of mediocre. The Browns played teams tight in 3 of their 4 losses this season – losing each game by 3 points – but just do not have the offensive talent. This game is a tough betting option and not worth a wager this weekend.
Fantasy Players of the Week:
Quarterback: Philip Rivers vs. Oakland Raiders – The Raiders defense is showing progress this season, but Rivers is on fire right now and is looking set new career highs in yards and touchdowns. Rivers has a 14-4 record against the Raiders in his career and has 27 passing TDs to 13 interceptions over those games.
Running Back: Mark Ingram vs. Indianapolis Colts – the Colts rush defense ranks in the bottom half of the league and is likely to yield a rushing touchdown each game. The upside Ingram has this season is his increased involvement in the passing game. Ingram is averaging 4.5 receptions per game and is only 2 catches away from matching his previous career high.
Wide Receiver: DeAndre Hopkins vs. Miami Dolphins – Hopkins is having a career year without stability under center. The Dolphins defense played great last weekend, but Hopkins is tearing up the NFL and is a great pick to crack the century mark each week.
Tight End: Greg Olsen vs. Philadelphia Eagles – Greg Olsen is most important player on Carolina’s offense – outside of Cam Newton of course – and will continue to play an important role as a blocker, third down receiver and red zone target. Philadelphia defense faces the most snaps on average each game, meaning Olsen has a great chance to snag a couple extra passes and maybe hit the double digit reception mark on Sunday.
Defense: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Washington Redskins – The Bucs may not be the sexiest options ever, but this week against the Redskins they are a good bargain pick. The Bucs rank fifth in passing yards allowed and ninth in sacks. Kirk Cousins – the Redskins quarterback – has propensity to turn the ball over and running game has struggled over the past few weeks.
