As the season progresses into its final quarter – and most teams have around 15 games left – the playoff races either get clearer (the Washington Capitals have all but locked up the Metropolitan Division) or become tight, tense, titillating races. One of those races is currently happening in the Pacific division, as the three California clubs are only separated by three points. For any hockey fan who is also a bit of a night owl – as most West Coast games end around 1AM – all three California teams are becoming most watch and most bet hockey.  

New Jersey Devils vs. San Jose Sharks

Over their last ten contests the Sharks have a slight edge at 6-4 – with two overtime victories – but the New Jersey Devils are currently dealing with injuries and even a player suspension, making them less of the team that managed a 5-2 last January. The Sharks have the fourth ranked offense in the NHL and have managed 4 goals twice in their last 4 meetings against the Devils. The Devils have the league’s worst offense and have averaged a paltry 1.8 goals per game over their last 5 contests. With the Devils top goaltender out for the next two weeks or so, there’s little supporting the Devil’s cause on Thursday - outside of San Jose’s surprising struggles at home (12-14-3) At +210 on most lines, San Jose is a solid pick tonight.
