The NFL is back for final week of the 2023 regular season as the New York Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles at the MetLife Stadium for their first game of 2024.
The Eagles are currently 11-5 for the season at the time of writing having lost four of their last five games, while the Giants are 5-11 so far this season having lost each of their last three games consecutively including the Christmas Day matchup between these two sides.

Season so far
Philadelphia have been on an absolute role this season, picking up where they left off last season when they dominated until falling at the last hurdle. But recent weeks have been increasingly difficult for the Eagles.
The Eagles won their first five games of the season beating New England Patriots 25-20, Minnesota 34-28, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25-11, Washington Commanders 34-31 in overtime and Los Angeles Rams 23-14. Their first defeat and only defeat of the season came on the road at the New York Jets 20-14 in week 6.
But they have since bounced back with a 31-17 win over Miami Dolphins, 38-31 win over Washington again and then a 28-23 win over the Dallas Cowboys before a bye in week 10.
They then took on the Chiefs in a rematch from last year’s Super Bowl and claimed a stunning win on the road as Jalen Hurts put in a fantastic performance, before another overtime win over the Buffalo Bills earned them a 37-34 win.
However they were well beaten by the San Francisco 49ers at home in a 42-19 defeat to snap their second five-game winning streak of the season, before a second consecutive defeat to the Dallas Cowboys 13-33 sparked some concerns about their credentials. They then fell to a surprise 17-20 defeat against the Seattle Seahawks in week 15, but got back to winning ways against the Giants with a 33-25 win the following week.
Last time out saw them fall to another defeat, losing 35-31 against the Arizona Cardinals in their final home game of the season but their playoff spot is already confirmed.
New York on the other hand have had a terrible season and it started as badly as it possibly could, losing 40-0 to the Dallas Cowboys.
They bounced back with a win in week 2 though, beating the Arizona Cardinals 31-28 thanks to a huge second half comeback which saw them win the third quarter 14-8 before winning the final quarter 17-0 to claim the victory. Since then it’s all gone downhill though, losing heavily in week 3 to the San Francisco 49ers 30-12, in week 4 to the Seattle Seahawks 24-3, to the Miami Dolphins 31-16 in week 5 and then to the Buffalo Bills 14-9 in week 6.
They snapped that losing streak with a 14-7 win over the Washington Commanders in week 7, before three more consecutive defeats against the New York Jets 10-13, Las Vegas Raiders 6-30 and Dallas Cowboys 17-49. Most recently though they claimed consecutive wins over the Commanders 31-19 and the New England Patriots 10-7 before a bye in week 13, which was followed by a 24-22 win over the Packers in week 14.

Philadelphia have had a difficult time in recent games but it's not a coincidence that the one team they did have plenty of joy against was the Giants.
When the Eagles have been tasked with beating teams they're supposed to beat, they've done it with relative ease all season and that is where this game falls too. Both of these teams have already had their post-season plans confirmed so there is little riding on this game other than professional pride, and the Eagles may rest players ahead of their playoff run.
However their roster is still far deeper in terms of quality and they showed in their match-up just two weeks ago that they are the better team, so expect them to get another comfortable win to close out the season here.

Over the course of the season this has been a solid points total for the Eagles to hit in their games. Over their 17 games so far the 46 point total has been hit and surpassed on 10 occasions, while the Giants have seen it land in seven of their 17 games.
One of those games where it landed for both teams was when they went head-to-head two weeks ago, with the Eagles picking up a 33-25 victory at home.
Offensively the Eagles are averaging 24.88 points scored per game, while defensively they are allowing an average of 23.58 points per game. The Giants on the other hand are averaging a total of just 14.05 points scored per game, while defensively they are allowing 23.35 points per game.
It could be a slower game, but the potential for this to land once again is high and it makes more sense to back that considering it's the underdog in this market.
