Premier League Gameweek 26 Preview And Picks
Three Points for the Gunners?
Arsenal entertain Everton in Saturday’s evening kick off and it is a fixture the Gunners have to win if they are to have any hope of finishing in the Premier League’s top four place and book a spot in next season’s Champions League.
The Gunners are eight points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea, but their home form should help them close the gap this weekend. Arsenal have won each of the eight home games they have played against teams below them in the table so will be hopeful of securing all three points against Everton.
The home side may be without £56 million record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is struggling with a fever so avoid betting on him to score because he may not play.
One player who you may want to look at in the goalscorer market is Everton’s former Arsenal man Theo Walcott. The £20 million signing scored twice in Everton’s 2-1 win over Leicester City and would love to score against the team he played for for 12 years.
Arsenal will likely be too strong for Everton and will have the crowd on their side after the signing of Aubameyang and Mezut Ozil signing a new contract so back the Arsenal-Arsenal half time full time result at -115.
Both Teams to Score Looks Certain at Liverpool
The pick of the weekend’s games takes place at Anfield on Sunday when Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur. This will be the 150th time the sides have met in the league and Liverpool have the much better record.
In the 74 games played at Anfield, Tottenham have only won six of them, which makes the +235 on a Spurs away win look far too short, even though the away side will be full of confidence having demolished Liverpool 4-1 when the teams met in London earlier in the season.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has 19 goals in the Premier League season while Spurs’ Harry Kane leads the charts with 21 goals to his name. Both Salah and Kane are +400 to open the scoring and +125 to score at anytime in the game. I would not deter anyone from betting against either player.
I think Liverpool could edge this game so backing the Liverpool win and both teams to score at +225 looks the bet to make. Even if you don’t place a wager, this is a game not to be missed this weekend.
Easy Fixture for Man Utd
Manchester United host Huddersfield in a game that they should easily win but one that has the potential to be a real banana skin of a fixture.
United lost to Spurs in midweek and it was the first time in 87 games that United have lost by two or more goals. It is worth noting that only Manchester City have beaten United at Old Trafford in the last 39 games, so stay well clear of the +1600 available on a Huddersfield away win.
Huddersfield are in freefall and have only two wins in their last 14 Premier League games and no hover dangerously near the relegation zone. Their toothless attack is a major problem. The Terriers have failed to score in 13 league games this season, which doesn’t bode well for them as United are solid at the back.
Look at United to keep a clean sheet at -165 and maybe even United to win 3-0 at +650. As for the goalscorer markets, I like the look of Alexis Sanchez to open the scoring at +330 and t bang in a goal during the 90-minutes at -120 as this will be Sanchez’s home debut and he’ll be going all out to impress his new legion of fans.
