Real Madrid route to the final

Los Blancos opened their cup campaign with a close-fought 1-0 win over Cacereno thanks to a second-half strike by Rodrygo, which set up a last 16 clash with Villarreal.

They headed to the Estadio la Ceramica and fell 2-0 behind in the first half thanks to goals from Etienne Capoue and Samuel Chukwueze. But a stunning fight-back in the second-half saw them come from behind and win 3-2, with goals from Vinicius Jr, Eder Militao and Dani Ceballos allowing them to progress to the quarter-finals.

That set up a Madrid derby against fierce city rivals Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu where they once again fell behind thanks to a strike by Alvaro Morata. But Rodrygo scored late to take the game to extra-time, before Karim Benzema and Vinicius scored to claim the win.

A two-legged clash with Barcelona followed and they suffered defeat at home in the first-leg, meaning they needed to overturn the deficit in the second leg at the Camp Nou.

They did it impressively with a stunning 4-0 win, with Benzema notching a hat-trick and Vinicius getting on the scoresheet too to assert themselves as the favorites for the cup.

Osasuna route to the final

Osasuna entered the tournament two rounds earlier than Real Madrid and started with a 4-1 win over Fuentes thanks to goals from Darko Brasanac, Ignacio Vidal and Kike (2).

The following round saw them claim a 3-1 win over Arnedo, with Kike scoring two more goals and Raul Garcia getting on the scoresheet too.

In the last 32 they faced off Gimnastic and were taken to extra-time but Kike and Eric Montes were able to ensure the team progressed to the last 16 for a clash against Real Betis.

They secured a 2-2 draw in that game thanks to a late goal from David Garcia that took the game to extra-time, before Raul Garcia scored again and they earned a 4-2 win in the penalty shootout.

That set up a quarter-final with Sevilla where they claimed a 2-1 win in extra-time thanks to goals from Luis Avila and Abde, before a huge two-legged semi-final clash with Athletic Bilbao.

Abde's goal saw them claim a 1-0 win in the first-leg at home and after losing the second leg 1-0 in 90 minutes they went to extra-time once again, where Pablo Ibanez notched in the 116th minute to send them through to the final.

Soccer picks: Real Madrid to win in 90 minutes

Whether you're looking at this game on current form or just the ability and qualities that each side possesses, then it's hard to see anything but a Real Madrid victory here.

Madrid have had the luxury of resting some players in midweek too with Karim Benzema not playing against Real Sociedad, while Luka Modric could be set to make an early recovery in time to feature in the cup final.

Carlo Ancelotti will be keen to claim an important and comfortable victory considering they have their Champions League semi-final clash with Manchester City a few days later, and that means Madrid will start fast and with intent.

Osasuna are a team who tend to play defensive football and try to catch their opponents on the counter-attack or score from set-pieces, but Los Blancos are more than well equipped for situations such as those too.

Expect a dominant and controlled performance from the reigning European champions, as they lift the King's Cup for the first time since 2014.

Soccer picks: Karim Benzema to score anytime

The 2022 Ballon d'Or winner has been in fantastic form once again this season, notching 28 goals in 36 appearances so far this season including a hat-trick in his most recent outing against Almeria.

In fact Benzema has scored three hat-tricks in his last eight games, including in the semi-final against Barcelona.

So far in his career the French forward has lined up 18 times against Osasuna and scored five times, with four assists to go. But he hasn't scored against them since way back in 2014 when he netted in this competition in a last 16 fixture.

But with a week off and preparations well underway for the end of season run-in, Benzema should be coming into this game full of confidence and ready to lead his team once again to victory.

He's the go-to man for Real Madrid on the grandest stage, and he usually delivers.
