The 2024 NASCAR season will reach it's climax this Sunday in Phoenix, as the final four racers stake their claim to be crowned as the Cup Series champion for 2024.

For the first time ever the three drivers with the most points accumulated over the season won't stand a chance to win the title after a controversial XFinity 500 race last time out, leaving some surprise contenders to go wheel-to-wheel for the championship.

We'll take a look at those contenders and their chances of success in the race, as we provide you with our best free NASCAR betting picks to try and earn you some extra cash while you enjoy the action on the track.

NASCAR Championship Race 2024 favorites

Below you'll find the contenders to win the NASCAR Cup Series championship for the 2024 season.

Ryan Blaney - (+235)

The defending champion from the 2023 season is someone who thrives in the desert, and that's why he is the favorite to go back-to-back here. In Blaney's last seven starts at the 1-mile oval he has recorded six top-five finishes and led for 322 laps - more than anyone else.

For the second straight year, Blaney enters Phoenix as the hottest driver in the field. He won his way into the Championship 4 by winning in Martinsville last time out. Considering his current form and the history he has at this track, it's hard to look past him going all the way once again.

Even though he doesn’t have the preparation, Team Penske is widely known for working together better than most teams. He and Logano will work to ensure whoever is best placed as the race goes on will come out on top, and Blaney is flying right now. At +235, he's the best value pick to walk out of Phoenix with the championship.

William Byron - (+300)

William Byron returns to Phoenix, with a circuit-best 4.7 average start, where he aas earned four top 10s since the start of the 2021 season.

Byron only qualified for this race thanks to a controversial disqualification of Christopher Bell, but he's been among the most consistent driver going into this one with a Top 6 or better in six straight races and he previously won at Phoenix in Match of 2023.

While his playoffs have been steady, they have not been spectacular. Byron has six straight top-six finishes, but he hasn’t won a race since April 7. At 26 years old, Byron is the youngest of the four contenders.

His chances aren't the best just because of that lack of experience, and a win may be his only real chance, but at +300 there is good value if you fancy him to do it.

Tyler Reddick - (+325)

Tyler Reddick climbed to the top of the regular season points standings with 11 Top 10s in 13 events from the All-Star race until the postseason cutoff race, but this looks like it might just be a step too far.

Had it not been for a dramatic overtake on the final lap at Martinsville he wouldn't even be in the running. In just his fifth Cup season, Reddick will make his Championship 4 debut. But he has experience winning championship races, having done so twice in the second tier.

Reddick has had a breakout season with three wins and career-highs in top-fives (12), top-10s (20), laps led (597) and average finish (13.4) – and he won the regular season championship by scoring the most points over the first 26 races of 2024. He absolutely can't be ruled out, especially with the longest price, but it would be a surprise.

Joey Logano - (+300)

Joey Logano managed to scrape into the Round of 8 due to a failed inspection for Alex Bowman, but he earned his spot by winning in Las Vegas after that and is a real contender to go all the way.

Despite the fact Logano has the fewest laps led, fewest top fives, and worst average rating of the four playoff drivers, he does have two titles to his name in his career and knows exactly what is needed to get the job done on the biggest stage.

The 2018 and 2022 Cup champion is looking for a third title. While he’s having one of his worst seasons ever statistically, Logano will be confident entering Phoenix. Despite the relatively disappointing overall season for Logano, Long was quick to point out that you can never count this team out. In a winner-take-all event, Logano is always dangerous.

At +300 there is some really good value in Logano going all the way once more and using his experience to outwhit all his rivals. He also has the benefit of having a teammate in the running so the team's orders will suit whoever is in the best position late on. If it's him, there is every chance he gets the job done.
