The NFL returns for week six of the regular season with two teams who have had mixed starts to their campaign going head-to-head as the San Francisco 49ers travel to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the Thursday Night game.
Seattle so far have gone 3-2 this season but have lost each of their last two games, while the 49ers are currently 2-3 but could easily have been 4-1 barring some bad execution during games, and both teams will be keen to improve their record in this match up.

San Francisco 49ers season so far
The 49ers opened their season in the perfect way as they claimed a dominant 32-19 win over the New York Jets in week one. Despite a slow start in the first quarter, San Francisco blew the Jets away with a 13-0 second quarter which essentially got them the win with Brock Purdy throwing for 231 yards.
Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings was nowhere near as good for them though as they fell to a 23-17 defeat, with another slow start this time costing them. The team found themselves 10-0 down midway through the second quarter and while they fought to get back into it, they never had the lead at any point in the game.
In week 3 the 49ers should have moved to 2-1, but instead fell to 1-2 as they collapsed in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Rams. Leading 24-14 midway through the fourth, the 49ers conceded 13 unanswered points for their first loss against the Rams in the regular season since 2018.
They bounced back the following week against the New England Patriots with an explosive performance, hitting 30 points to the Patriots' 13, including outscoring them 20-3 in the first half. But last week they fell to defeat once again, as the Arizona Cardinals came from a 13-point deficit to keep San Francisco pointless in the entire second half and make a comeback to win 24-23.
Seattle Seahawks season so far
Seattle started their season in picture-perfect fashion when they took on the Denver Broncos and claimed a 26-20 win in the opening game, with a huge 10-0 third quarter proving the difference for them.
In week two they extended their record to 2-0 with an overtime win against the Patriots, where a close game was settled by a Jason Myers field-goal from 31 yards after an eight-drive play that gained them 71 yards.
In week 3 they turned in their best performance of the season so far, dominating against the Miami Dolphins to claim a 24-3 victory at home. Seattle scored 17 points in the first quarter and while there were no points from either team in the second or third, the Seahawks put their stamp on the win with a touchdown in the fourth.
But since then things have gone downhill. Week 4 saw their defense carved open repeatedly by the Detroit Lions as they were thrashed 42-29 with at least one touchdown allowed in each quarter. Then last time out they were well beaten again by the New York Giants as they failed to cope with the offense and fell to a 29-20 defeat despite winning the first quarter 7-0.

NFL Picks: San Francisco 49ers -3.5 @ -104
While the 49ers are currently 2-3, they can easily be 4-1 right now, as they’ve blown leads to the Rams and Cardinals in two of those losses and they should take some comfort from that.
The Seahawks defense in recent games has struggled against runners, and the 49ers' biggest strength is exactly that. They will be looking to take full advantage of the running game, and they'll likely control the clock better too.
The Seahawks have allowed a combined 247 rushing yards in their last two games, and considering they'll be coming up against one of the most prolific and consistent running games coached by Kyle Shanahan, that spells bad news.
San Francisco also got Brandon Aiyuk back on track last week while Deebo Samuel and George Kittle have returned from injury, meaning they're nearing full strength once again.
It should also be noted that history is in favor of The 49ers, who have won five straight meetings against the Seahawks with each of those victories was by eight or more points.
The moneyline is a good bet for San Francisco to earn some cash but lengthen the odds a little by taking them against the spread at -3.5 to add some more value to the bet.

NFL Picks: Under 49.5 total match points @ -110
I like the Niners to control the clock with their running game in this one, and that makes the under an appealing option.
As mentioned Seattle have struggled to defend against the run in recent games and Jordan Mason should be able to deliver more damage this week. That means that San Francisco can chew more time off the clock, making it more favorable conditions for the Under.
We’re getting a relatively high bar at 49.5 points considering only three of their combined ten games this season have surpassed that mark, so the under is the clear play here.
