A sensational MLB season draws closer to it's end tonight when the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants in the final game of their five-game series.
The two sides are tied at 2-2 heading into the game, where the winner will face the Atlanta Braves for a place in the World Series final.
Let's take a look at the best betting tips for the game and where the value lies for a hugely important ball game.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants - Thursday, October 14th, 9:07 PM ET
Two brilliant seasons in MLB Postseason baseball clash once again in a must-see game tonight, with a chance to face the Atlanta Braves for a place in the World Series up for grabs.
The Giants and the Dodgers were the only two teams that were able to rack up more than 100 wins during the regular season in 2021 but unfortunately for one of them, they must face each other in order to progress to the finals since they're from the same NL West division.
Back the Giants to get it done at -110
With Logan Webb on the mound, a solid offense, brilliant starting pitching, and an above-average bullpen, the Giants have got one of the best and most balanced teams in the league.
The 24-year-old Webb enjoyed a stunning second half of the season with a 2.71 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP, losing only two of 16 starts.
The Giants have got a home advantage for this game five and that suits them and Webb, who went 6-0 on his home mound with a 1.96 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. He also held his opponents to just a .213 batting average.
When Webb starts and the Giants are at home, they tend to win. He went 12-0, with two of those coming against the Dodgers in 2-1 and 4-0 wins. Against the LA opposition, he held them to a .194 batting average with a 28.2 percent strikeout rate and a 1.99 FIP in 117 plate appearances. His great form is absolutely not a fluke.
There are five days between games this time around and that suits him and the Giants, with his ERA dropping from 3.35 to 2.31 and opponent batting average dropping from .237 to .223 when he gets that extra day of rest between games.
Dodgers Rely on Julio Urias
As for the Dodgers, their hopes are penned on starting pitcher Julio Urias continuing his brilliance.
The 25-year-old is the only starting pitcher with 20 wins this season, a stark contrast considering he had never won more than five games in a season in his previous five MLB campaigns prior to 2021.
Urias managed a 20-3 record during the season with a 2.96 ERA and a 3.12 xERA, making him the brightest light in a Dodgers side that has enjoyed a brilliant campaign.
The all-star break seemed to trigger an upturn in his form, going 9-0 since then with a 2.04 ERA in 14 starts.
His usual method of getting ahead with his fastball, throwing in some curveballs to get whiffs is something we haven't really seen against the Giants this season. Recently, he's changed up to throw more off-speed pitches and that is something the San Francisco side should expect once again.
With the stakes so high and the teams so close in quality, this is set up to be one of the best games of the year.
The stats seem to lean to the home side though and with the moneyline close to par odds, they're the best bet.
Back the Under @ -125
The four games in this series so far have seen some very different scores but there is a pattern emerging in their games.
The games so far have seen both teams win once away and once at home, but the results have been glaringly different. The Dodgers secured big wins with a 7-2 and 9-2 rout but when the Giants are able to secure the victory they tend to be able to keep LA quiet on the runs side, winning 4-0 and 1-0.
Webb with an extra day of rest is a very different proposition for his opponents. In game 1 of this series he also was coming off an extra day's rest and it played a big part in the Giants' victory. He was brilliant, averaging 12 pitches per inning before being taken out in the 8th on only 92 pitches.
8 Hits in the last 13.2 Innings
In his last 13.2 innings he has allowed just one run and eight hits, so expect another excellent performance from him.
As for Urias, the under is a good bet when he's on the field too. The under has landed at a record of 9-4-1 in his last 14 starts and he is even better when away from home. He seems to be more conservative with his pitching, with his ERA dropping from 3.27 to 2.71 on the road.
The Giants have been average against left-handed pitchers this season, which is only a good thing for the Dodgers and their chances of progressing one step closer to the World Series finals.
This game is as close as they come and with brilliant pitching sure to be at play, unders is the bet to go with alongside the Giants securing a big win in game five at AT&T Park.
