Super Bowl LIX MVP Award Favorites

Below you’ll find a list of the favorites to win the MVP Award after the NFL Super Bowl LIX.

Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs – Quarterback (+100)

Mahomes may have competition as the best quarterback of all-time, but he's starting to make a case for being the most clutch player in history.

He always turns up in the big moments, winning three Super Bowls and three Super Bowl MVPs in just eight seasons. Proving how good he is his numbers improve in the post-season too.

Mahomes had a pretty standard regular season by his own standards, and that has got quite a few people overlooking his chances of success in this race as a result. But he is the key cog in the machine for the Chiefs that has seen them get to the brink of becoming the first team ever to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

If the Chiefs win the Super Bowl again, there is nobody else on the team who will pick up the MVP Award barring him having an all-time stinker, so the +100 odds are fantastic value.

Saquon Barkley – Philadelphia Eagles – Running Back (+275)

If the Eagles are to be successful, then it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see Saquon Barkley come out on top after the season he has had.

We haven't seen a running back win this award since Terrell Davis in 1997, and a quarterback usually gets the nod but the Philadelphia offense has arguably been running through Barkley this year.

The Eagles finished the season with the second-best point differential in football and were top-six in both offensive and defensive EPA, while the Chiefs didn't rank top-10 in either of those EPA stats. The Eagles have a real chance of success in this match-up.

On an individual level Saquon has been a fantastic season and looks likely to finish third in NFL MVP voting after averaging 142 total yards and almost a touchdown per game. There are a lot of ifs and maybes in this, but if the Eagles spoil the Chiefs' party then it will mean Barkley has had another fire performance and at +275 the value is excellent for him to get the nod, so take it while you can.

Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles – Quarterback (+375)

While Barkley is the main man in this Philadelphia offense, anything he does requires Jalen Hurts to perform to a high level too and he is doing everything he can to help his team after the heartbreak of 2023.

Hurts was massive in the Eagles 55-23 demolition job of the Washington Commanders, marking the most points any team has had in a conference championship game. He threw for a touchdown to A.J. Brown, and also ran for three. His nine all-time rushing TD’s in the postseason is most of any quarterback in NFL history and that puts him in contention for sure.

Hurts was incredible in the 2023 Super Bowl between these two teams and another similar performance, plus a win, could see him edge out his teammate and claim the award. At +375, it is worth a look if you think Philadelphia are going to get the win.

Jalen Carter – Philadelphia Eagles – Defensive Tackle (+6500)

If you want to take a look away from the favorites, then the obvious choice is defensive lineman Jalen Carter - who is arguably the reason the Eagles are even in this game.

It was his huge sack in the game against the Green Bay Packers that helped the Eagles to progress to the NFC Championship game, adding to a first sack, a forced fumble, five tackles and three quarterback hits in the same game.

If he was to have a similar game against a quarterback like Mahomes on a stage like the Super Bowl, then it would be incredibly difficult to overlook him as the MVP of the game.

It would take a lot of things going in his favor, but with his own individual form and odds of +6500 it would be crazy not to have a small flutter on him becoming the first defensive lineman to win the Super Bowl MVP Award since 1986.
