The night's best NHL bets, with odds provided courtesy of BetOnline.ag:
Montreal Canadiens (+112) at New York Rangers (-124)
Both teams come into this one off of emotional victories on Thursday. Paul Byron scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway with 8.3 seconds remaining in regulation to power the Atlantic Division-leading Canadiens to their fourth straight win on the night that former Habs defenseman P.K. Subban and the Nashville Predators were in town.
Also on Thursday, Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves while celebrating his 35th birthday to backstop the Rangers to their League-leading 22nd road win of the season. Lundqvist earned the 403rd win of his NHL career to tie Grant Fuhr for 10th on the all-time list and match the NHL record for wins by a goaltender in his first 12 seasons (Martin Brodeur: 403 in 740 games played).
Now the Rangers need to find a way to bring that magic home. They are 0-2-1 in their last three home games, including a 3-2 shootout loss to the Canadiens on Feb. 21 and have surrendered 12 goals in those three contests. The Canadiens have won three in a row on the road, all via overtime or shootout decisions.
Pick: The Canadiens (+112)
Columbus Blue Jackets (-114) at Ottawa Senators (+103)
The Blue Jackets have reached the 40-win plateau for just the fourth time in franchise history. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has set a career high and a new franchise record by posting 33 victories. Columbus has played consecutive 1-0 games - a victory over the Minnesota Wild after a loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the first time that's happened in franchise history.
In his Ottawa debut Thursday, forward Alex Burrows scored both Ottawa goals in a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Burrows became the fourth player in franchise history to score twice in his team debut, joining Doug Smail (Oct. 8, 1992 vs. Montreal, Brian Glynn (Oct. 6, 1993 vs. Quebec) and Dan Quinn (March 17, 1994 at San Jose).
Pick: The Blue Jackets (-114)
Philadelphia Flyers (+231) at Washington Capitals (-260)
The Capitals are riding a 14-game home winning streak and a 16-game home ice point streak (15-0-1), both new club records and the longest home winning streak in the NHL since 2011-12.
Washington goalie Braden Holtby leads the NHL with eight shutouts and is 18-0-2 in his last 20 decisions. Washington leads the NHL with 26 home wins, 10 of those coming via shutout and that latter number is also a franchise record.
Making his Flyers debut, Valtteri Filppula scored the game-tying goal Thursday as the Flyers earned a 2-1 shootout victory over Florida. Filppula, who was acquired from Tampa Bay on Wednesday, snapped a 15-game drought with his first goal since Jan. 17 at Anaheim.
Pick: The Capitals (-260)
Chicago Blackhawks (+113) at Nashville Predators (-125)
The league's two hottest players in February go head to head. Chicago captain Jonathan Toews was February's first star of the month as the Blackhawks went 9-1, collecting 7-11-18 totals in those games, including five multi-point performances. Toews has scored nine career overtime winners, a franchise record.
Predators forward Filip Forsberg was the NHL's second star of the month. He scored a league-leading 11 goals in February and was second in the NHL with 17 points. He's scored 10 goals in his last seven games, including three game winners and consecutive hat tricks.
The Blackhawks have won seven straight on the road and have scored 33 goals in those games, an average of 3.3 goals per game.
Pick: The Blackhawks (-125)
