The Players Championship is here and golf fans everywhere are pretty fired up over things. From now until Sunday, the best golfers on the planet are going to look to put on a show over at TPC Sawgrass over in Florida. Who will come out on top? It might not be a surprise to you, but Scottie Scheffler is our pick to win the 2025 Players Championship. The pressure is on for him to deliver.
There's no question that Scheffler is easily one of the best players on the planet. When he's in a good groove with both his drives and his short games, it's almost impossible to find someone who can perform at a higher level. With that said, there's a loaded field and Scheffler knows that the pressure is going to be on for him to deliver.

“When I think about success, I don’t think about being the best player in the world," Scheffler told reporters this week as he gets ready for the 2025 edition of the Players Championship. "I think about my attitude on the golf course and my preparation."
According to the best online sports betting sites, Scheffler holds an impressive +330 odds to win this big-time event. For weeks now, the expectation has been that he should have no issues at all posting a victory. It's going to be a close battle leading up to the final round on Sunday and plenty of others will be ready to try and bring home down. With all of that said, we're going with Scheffler as our pick.

Rory McIlroy also has strong odds to win the Players Championship this year
While we're going to go with Scheffler as our prediction to lift the trophy this weekend, keep in mind that Rory McIlroy also has strong odds to win the Players Championship this year. This also shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as McIlroy is no question one of the best golfers on the planet. He also joked recently that he has no plans on playing in the PGA Tour Champions, which surprised fans.
"Look, I've said a lot of absolutes in my time that I've walked back," McIlroy said with a smile when speaking to reporters recently. "But I do not envision playing Champions Tour golf. Something has went terribly wrong if I have to compete at golf at 50."
Don't expect Rory McIlroy to play the Champions Tour after he retires.
Early Tuesday morning, Rory McIlroy talked about what it might look like when he steps away from PGA Tour golf and the appreciation he has for the longevity of golf careers. ⬇️

Looking to get in on the betting action too? Now is the time to check the special bonuses and promotions that the top sportsbooks out there offer to users. This includes the BetOnline sign up bonus, which would be perfect for someone looking to place a wager or two down on the Players Championship. The betting action is only going to heat up in the coming days.
As for McIlroy, he has been given +850 odds via the best golf betting sites to stun everyone, including Scheffler, to win the title. It's not going to be easy for anyone to take down Scheffler and while we're doubling down on him, we do think that McIlroy will be in a position to make things interesting over the weekend. Keep an eye on McIlroy throughout the tournament.
There are other top contenders to monitor throughout the Players Championship
With this big tournament here, yes, a ton of focus is going to McIlroy and Scheffler, but don't forget that there are other top contenders to monitor throughout the Players Championship. Immediately, we've got to bring up the one and only Collin Morikawa, as he's a tremendous golfer and he'll be ready to make a ton of noise throughout the weekend.
Morikawa is beloved by so many people too and he's an easy guy to root for. The list doesn't end there, though. Other studs to pay attention to will be J.J. Spaun, Lucas Glover, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and many others. Spaun and Glover in particular are intriguing options, as people are hoping they can turn heads going up against some of the others in the field.
Soon enough, we'll know who will stand alone by the end of the day on Sunday. As we mentioned previously, we're rocking with Scheffler to win it, but every single guy we've mentioned in this piece also has what it takes to post a tournament victory. We can't wait to see how things go down come Sunday, but don't be surprised if things end in dramatic fashion here. Fans are expecting it.
