South Korea vs Mexico Prediction

Mexico to win (-155) Bet Now

Korea Republic looked in a sorry state in their game against Sweden, a match during which they failed to register a single shot on target. The Koreans were out-played, out-muscled and out-classed and it is extremely difficult to see how they will cope with the pacey attack of the Mexicans.

Mexico will be buoyant after their impressive 1-0 victory over Germany. Mexico played on the counter attack, moved forward with pace and finesse, and the Germans did not have an answer for them.

The Mexicans were also solid in defense and kept what was their ninth clean sheet in their previous 13 matches. We cannot see Korea scoring or them shutting out Mexico so it should be a relatively straight forward victory for the South American team.

South Korea vs Mexico Key Bites

  • Hirving Lozano was unplayable against Germany and the Koreans will not be relishing facing him

  • Expect Mexico to record a shutout because their defense is superb and Korea’s attack lacks bite

South Korea vs Mexico World Cup Preview

Korea Republic fell to a 1-0 defeat against Sweden and it never looked like there was going to be any other result. To say that Korea Republic were poor is an understatement, it is fairer to say they were terrible.

The Koreans got through the entire 90 minutes without forcing the Swedish goalkeeper into a save. Five shots are all Korea could muster and not a single one was on target. You need to be far more accurate at this level otherwise you will be punished.

That loss meant Korea are winless in seven World Cup matches and that run is likely to be pushed to eight games because it is practically impossible to see anything other than another three points for Mexico.

Korea do have some players among their ranks who could cause the Mexicans problems but they will be mostly concentrating on not conceding against a Mexico side that attacks with flair, pace and determination.

Mexico have made it into the last 16 of the previous six World Cups and you would not bet against them doing it again in 2018. Against Germany, Mexico got their tactics perfect and ran out deserved winners.

While it is try Mexico had less than 40 percent possession, they played with an enthusiasm that no over team has shown so far and all 11 men on the pitch pulled together as a team while Germany looked like 11 individuals.

Perhaps a little worrying is that Mexico allowed Germany to have 26 shots, although many were from long range and only nine of those 26 shots hit the target. The Mexican defense stood up well to the Germans, especially in the latter stages when Germany committed bodies forward in a vain attempt at finding an equalising goal.

In Hirving Lozano, Mexico have a match winner. The 22 year old plys his trade with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands and has attracted the attention of Spanish giants Barcelona. Lozano scored 17 goals in 29 games for PSV last season and he is the hottest property in Mexican football right now.

Bovada price Mexico at -155 to beat Korea Republic with Korea coming in at +500 and the draw at +260. Mexico will win this fixture, it is just a matter of by what score. Mexico have only scored more than one goal twice in their last 12 games so it is unlikely this match will be high scoring.

With that in mind, we like the look of both Mexico to win and there being under 3.5 goals at +100 and Mexico to win and under 2.5 goals at +210.
