Thursday Night on The Ice: Los Angeles Kings Vs. St. Louis Blues
Los Angeles vs. St Louis Blues
Two of the top teams in the Western Conference meet up for a mid-week showdown that will have plenty of impact on the tight playoff races both teams are currently in. The Kings currently lead the Pacific division with 69 points – but now only hold a 3 point lead over their crosstown rivals the red-hot Anaheim Ducks. The St. Louis Blues sit third in the ultracompetitive central division with 75 points. Both teams are in need of the two points even if they currently each sit in a playoff spot. Over their last five meetings, the Kings have a slight edge at 3-2, including winning 3-0 in St. Louis earlier this season. The Kings are one of the best road teams in the league, ranking 4th in road wins with 18. They also rank in the top ten in goals scored and allowed. The Blues rank 3rd in goals against, but 25th in goals for. The Kings at +105 – who have been mediocre over their last ten games going 4-6 – should be able to squeak out a victory in a likely low scoring games. Pick LA on the road and take the under - which currently sits at 5.
Players to watch
Look for Left Wingers Milan Lucic - of the Kings - and Alex Steen – of the Blues – to be potential goal scorers on Thursday night. Lucic’s first season in LA has been productive with 36 pts in 55 games. He also remains one of the league premier two way players, sitting at +13 for the season. Steen has more points than Lucic with 45 pts in 59 games. Steen’s productivity is more closely tied to his team’s success. Steen is looking to hit the 20 goal mark for the third straight seasons.
