UFC Preview: UFC Fight Night 76 - Poirier vs Duffy
Main Event: Dustin Poirier vs. Joseph Duffy
Odds: Poirier +175, Duffy -225
The two lightweights headline the UFC’s return to Ireland this Saturday. Poirier – the underdog – is a higher ranked fighter than Duffy and actually is the superior fighter, but Duffy is fighting on his home turf and will draw heavily from the sold out crowd. If Poirier can keep Duffy in check through the first round and take some of the energy out of the room, Poirier has a reasonable chance for an upset.
Pick: Poirier
Paddy Holohan vs. Louis Smolka
Odds: Holohan -105, Smolka -125
Two flyweight – as evenly matched as you will see all year – co-headline this Fight Night. Each fighter’s game is not overly polished and a lengthy match can be expected. The edge has to go towards Holohan, who like Joseph Duffy, is fighting in front of his home nation and will use the crowd as motivation to gain the slight edge to win.
Pick: Holohan
Norman Parke vs. Reza Madadi
Odds: Parke -275, Madadi +215
Another pair of lightweights round out the top matches on the card for the night. Parke began his UFC on an excellent 5 match unbeaten streak, before facing some tougher competition over his last two bouts – both losses. Madadi has been out of the UFC for over two years – due to some criminal activity – but looks to build off of his 8-2 mark before his release. Parke has the advantage in this match due to Madadi’s recent inactivity, even though Madadi is the better fighter.
Pick: Parke
