The AFC South division of the National Football League’s (NFL) American Football Conference is one of the newer divisions having only been created in 2002 when the league realigned divisions when it expanded to 32 teams. Since its creation, the AFC South has been the home to the same four franchises, namely Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans; the Texas did not exist before the 2002 season and the AFC South’s creation.
It was the Tennessee Titans who won the inaugural AFC South division before the Indianapolis Colts won for the next five years.
The Colts have gone on to win a total of nine division titles, secured 12 playoff berths, won two AFC championships, and got their hands (or should that be fingers) on a Super Bowl ring in 2006.
In 2015, the Houston Texans won the division with a 9-7 (.563) record thanks in part to one of the best defences in the league. Part of the reason the Texans defence is so good is Defensive End J.J. Watt is part of it, and Watt is regarded as one of the best players in the NFL, period.
Watt is a sack machine with 17.5 sacks to his name in 16 games played in 2015, plus 76 combined tackles (57 total and 19 assisted), three forced fumbles, and a recovered fumble. With Watt battening down the hatches, the Texans are always going to be difficult to beat.
Of the AFC South teams, Indianapolis Colts are the favorites for the 2017 Super Bowl, but priced at +2100 they are joint ninth favorites to do so, way behind the +900 of New England Patriots, and Carolina Panthers.

What Are The AFC South standings
In 2015, the Texans topped the AFC South followed by the Colts, then the Jaguars and Titans bringing up the rear.
It is expected to be a similar story this coming season except the Colts and Texas could swap places. Let’s see if that’s happening by checking the AFC South standings as they are right now.
How To Win AFC South Bets
The Titans were terrible in 2015, finishing the season with a 3-13 record (.188), scoring less than 300 points for and allowing 423, which shows why they went 1-7 at home. We would expect the Titans to have long odds to win for almost all of their upcoming fixtures.
Those of you who like to bet on markets such as most passing yards, keep a close eye on Jacksonville Jaguars who finished with the fifth best passing offence in the AFC in 2015 with 256.8 yards per game and 35 passing touchdowns; if only they could shore up their defence.
