You would be forgiven to think that this game was a foregone conclusion before a ball has even been kicked because Sweden are ranked 23rd in the world and Korea Republic are as low as 61st. The game will not be as plain sailing as one may think, mostly because Sweden are not one of Europe’s powerhouse teams; in fact they are quite average.

Everyone loves an underdog. There's romance in supporting the little guy, and in the sports betting world, it can also prove a profitable venture. But there are times when playing a long shot is unwise, and the World Cup is definitely one.

Egypt go into their opening match against Uruguay as massive underdogs with Bovada pricing them at +425 to win compared to -150 on an Uruguayan victory and +285 for the draw. Uruguay has many Europe-based players in its squad, particularly its forwards, so acclimatising to the Russian weather should no pose a problem and could give them a distinct advantage over Egypt.

In reality, both Russia and Saudi Arabia have zero chance of winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup as is evident by the +4000 odds for a Russian win on home soil and the +100000 odds on what would the shock of the century if Saudi Arabia lifted the trophy. For this one-off game, however, we do not think you can look past a Russian victory.
