Haskell Invitational A Key Breeders’ Cup Prep Race

By invitation only, the Haskell at Monmouth rates behind only the Triple Crown races in stature for this age group. A victory in the Haskell Invitational guarantees the winning horse entry into the season-ending Breeders' Cup championship races.
The signature race at Tampa Bay Downs goes this Saturday with the running of the 1 1/16 mile (G2) Tampa Bay Derby, as 10 runners are expected to go to the gate, chasing a purse of $350,000.
Also known as 'The Big 'Cap", the (G1) Santa Anita Handicap goes this Saturday from southern California, with nine runners expected to be racing 1 1/4 miles on the dirt for a total purse of $750,000.
