If you were to complete an oral history of the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, it would be about as long as one of those compositions you read in front of the class in elementary school. And it would be just as awkward, with little of value or substance to offer, finally coming to a very unhappy ending. Will the Eagles be able to change the narrative in Super Bowl LII?

The similarities between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles are stark. Both are led by smothering, stifling defenses. Both have quarterbacks at the helm who weren't the guy under center when the NFL season started. When the regular season got underway, neither team was touted as a playoff contender, let alone to end up as opponents in the NFC championship Game. And neither team has won the Super Bowl.

It's backup quarterback week in the NFL. Drew Stanton is in for the injured Carson Palmer for Arizona, and he'll be opposite C.J. Beathard, San Francisco's designated placeholder until newly-acquired Jimmy Garoppolo is ready to assume the role, as the Cardinals face the 49ers. In Denver, the Broncos finally tired of watching Trevor Siemian complete passes to the other team and will go with Brock Osweiler.

In 51 Super Bowl match-ups, only twice have both teams come from the same state - the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV and the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX. Could we be looking at an all-Pennsylvania showdown in Super Bowl LII? Certainly at this stage of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers look to be the best of the best.
