With the start of the new soccer seasons only a matter of weeks away, clubs from around Europe are running out of time to add to their squads as they bid for glory in the coming campaign. Rumors are rife that some of the biggest clubs in the world are about to break the bank to sign some superstars, but how much truth are in these transfer rumors?

Rumors are rife that Southampton’s Dutch central defender Virgil van Dijk will be leaving the club before the start of the season as there has been apparent interest from Southampton’s Premier League rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City. The former Celtic man could be allowed to leave the St. Mary’s Stadium but it will cost his new club a fee in the region of £50-60 million.

Wayne Rooney has returned to Everton after 13 years at Manchester United and Romelu Lukaku has gone the other way. Although it was not essentially a swap deal, one has to believe there was some bartering between the two management teams when they were finalizing the £75 million transfer of Lukaku to the Red Devils. Both players are excellent, but which team has got the better deal?

Arsenal’s Chilean star Alexis Sanchez is the subject of transfer gossip with several of Europe’s biggest teams reportedly considering bidding for the talismanic forward. Sanchez has gone on record stating he wants a move away from the Gunners but with the London club demanding at least £80 million for the former Barcelona man, Sanchez may still be an Arsenal player at the start of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
