2017 Breeders' Cup from Del Mar Race Track
For the first time in the 33 year history of the Breeders' Cup Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, California will play host. The racing gets underway with four races on Friday, including the $2 million Distaff, and concludes with nine races on Saturday. All races will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network and TSN2 in Canada, as well as being live streamed at breederscup.com. Click the header for each race below to find the picks.
Breeders' Cup Day 1 - Friday, November 3
- Juvenile Fillies Turf - Post time 5:35 PM Eastern
For two-year-old fillies racing one mile on the turf course with a purse of $1 million. Three-time race winning trainer Chad Brown has the early favorite in Rushing Fall, with European runners Happily and September a strong pair.

For fillies and mares age three and older racing 1 1/8 miles on the dirt for a purse of $2 million. Stellar Wind was second in this race in 2015 and fourth in 2016, comes in with three consecutive Grade 1 wins in 2017. Kentucky Oaks winner Abel Tasmen is in the field as well.
Breeders' Cup Day 2 - Saturday, November 4
For two-year-old fillies racing 1 1/16 miles on the dirt track for a purse of $2 million. Early favorite Moonshine Memories has a Grade 1 win on the Del Mar dirt. Seperationofpowers will be trying a longer race for the first time, while Heavenly Love won her last by more than five lengths.
For horse aged three and older, running 5 furlongs on the turf for $1 million. Top contenders Lady Aurelia and Marsha come over from Europe to prove they can beat the boys, with the latter making her first start on US soil.
For fillies and mares age three and older, racing 7 furlongs on the dirt for $1 million. Star three-year-old Unique Bella has won five straight and could be one of the best bets on the weekend. Defending champ Finest City is back after winning last year at odds of 9-1.
For fillies and mares age three and older, racing 1 1/8 miles on the turf for $2 million. Lady Eli has a Breeders' Cup win to her name as 2014 Juvenile Fillies Turf champ, was second in this race last year. Top Euro Roly Poly should like the firm Del Mar turf.
For horses age three and older racing 6 furlongs on the dirt for $1.5 million. Defending champ Drefong is back and comes in a off four-length win in his last. Roy H has won four of his last five, while Takaful is a late-blooming contender at possible double-digit odds.
For horses age three and older, racing one mile on the turf for a purse of $2 million. Irish-bred Ribchester has been out of the money only once in 15 lifetime starts and will make his US debut. North American based World Approval is in with a solid chance.
For two-year-old colts running 1 1/16 miles on the dirt for a purse of $2 million. Undefeated in three lifetime starts, Bolt d'Oro figures to be a strong favorite and could emerge as the top contender for the 2018 Kentucky Derby. Firenze Fire has won three-of-four, including his last race at odds of 11-1.
For horses age three and older, racing 1 1/2 miles on the turf course for a purse of $4 million. In a race loaded with top European contenders, Ulysses has been in the top three in five of the biggest races in the UK and France this year, with two wins. Top US hope Beach Patrol has won two straight, the last at this distance.
For horses age three and older, running 1 1/4 miles on the dirt for $6 million. Gun Runner is considered the top dirt horse in the world right now, but has yet to win in three tries at the distance. Defending champ Arrogate has been beaten in his last two races, both at Del Mar. One of the most intriguing Classics in years.
All Breeders' Cup races are limited to 14 starters, except for the Turf Sprint which is limited to 12. Final entries will be taken and the post position draw will be held on Monday, October 30.
