Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane Pound for Pound Battle Continues

After scoring a screamer of a goal for Liverpool against Everton, Mohamed Salah increased his tally to the season to 13 goals and he looks odds on to surpass the 15 league goals he scored in Serie A for AS Roma last season.

The Egyptian was +500 to finish this campaign as the division’s top scorer. Bovada have now cut his odds to +400, although he is still the second favorites in the Golden Boot race.

Salah’s Liverpool play West Bromwich Albion on December 13 and it is Salah who is the favorite to score first at +275 and -150 to score during the 90-minutes. On his current form, I would not bet against Salah getting his name on the score sheet.

Harry Kane bagged himself a brace in the 5-1 demolition of Stoke City at the weekend to take his total to 12 goals for the season and this from only 15 games played. Kane is averaging four shots per game and slightly more than two of those are hitting the target.

Kane’s Tottenham take on Brighton and Hove Albion on December 13 and Kane should have plenty of opportunities to add to his already impressive goal haul. Bovada have cut Kane’s odds on being the Premier League’s top scorer from +225 to +165 and those odds are bound to shorten further if the England captain manages to put the ball in the Brighton net at Wembley.

Manchester City's Strikeforce to Show Off at Swansea

Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Alvaro Morata failed to score in the Week 16 games so are still tied on nine goals apiece. Aguero and Sterling’s Manchester City team travel to hapless Swansea City this week with Aguero -165 to score a anytime and Sterling +125.

Also likely to take part in that game is Gabriel Jesus who already has eight goals to his name this season. Jesus has made 28 shots so far and a sniper-like 21 of those have been on target, which when you add to the fact he scored a brace the last time he faced Swansea City, makes the +275 on the Brazilian scoring first and -150 at anytime look like a real bargain.

Should Jesus score a brace or more this week, Bovada will have no choice but to reduce his +1000 odds on winning the Golden Boot.

Romelu Lukaku and Wayne Rooney

Two other players on eight goals for the season are Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku and Everton’s Wayne Rooney.

Lukaku started his Man United career in scintillating form, scoring seven league goals in eight games, but he has gone off the boil since then and has only scored one Premier League goal in his previous nine matches. Lukaku looks like a player void of confidence, can he rediscover his scoring touch against Bournemouth in midweek and cut his +1000 odds on winning his first Golden Boot?

Rooney captains Everton in their trip to struggling Newcastle United. The Magpies cannot seem to pick up any points of late and are without a win in seven games. Rooney has been playing in his favored number 10 role and while it would be unfair to say he is back to his best, it is fair to say that he looks comfortable in his current position and is going to be a major threat for Newcastle to deal with. Newcastle’s defense seems to have lost its composure so if they give away a penalty, Rooney will tuck it away. You can back Rooney to score during the game at odds of +200.
